Watercolor Monotypes

These are all water media prints. The plate is painted in several layers allowing each layer to dry. This method allows for much more color layers and painterly effects. Then printed on the press with damp paper. There is often a enough color still on the plate for a strong ghost print. I have included some of my abstract prints with chine colle. I love experimenting in printmaking. I always find it takes me in new directions which inspires me. The latest one (which I put first,) is Mary Sundstrom's method for making watercolor monotypes with a heavy Yupo base. I think it works best in the dry climate of Albuquerque( which is a good reason to go there! Mary is one of the owners of Remarque Print Workshop & Gallery, Albuquerque, New Mexico.
